Meshy Multi-View Best Practices: Angles and Images

Meshy Multi-View Guide: Best Angles to Upload

Overview

Multi-View lets you upload several reference images of the same object so Meshy can build a more accurate 3D model. Choosing the right angles—and knowing when a single image is actually the better choice—makes a big difference in the final result.

The easiest way to get accurate multi-view inputs is to let Meshy generate them for you. In the Image to 3D workflow, click the Generate Multi-View button after uploading a front-facing image. Meshy will automatically generate the complementary views—left side, back, and right side—from your single image, so you don't need to source or capture additional photos manually.

This approach ensures all views are consistent in lighting, style, and scale, which typically produces better results than manually collected photos. And you can refer to Multi-View Image to 3D tutorial to learn more tips.

Image Preparation Tip

Before uploading your front image, consider running it through Image-to-Image first. Cleaning up the background, normalizing lighting, and removing distractions can noticeably improve multi-view output quality.

Angle Matrix: What to Capture

If you're uploading your own photos instead of using Generate Multi-View, aim to capture:

  • Front view — the primary silhouette and face of the object

  • Left side view — depth and profile details

  • Back view — details not visible from the front

  • Right side view — for additional coverage

Keep Lighting and Object Consistent

All images should show the same object, in the same pose, under similar lighting. Avoid mixing photos taken at different times of day, angles that shift the object's position, or images with heavy shadows on one side and not another.

When Not to Use Multi-View

Multi-View isn't always the better option. Skip it when:

  • You only have one clear reference image

  • Additional images actually show different objects or poses

  • The extra angles are blurry, low-resolution, or heavily cropped

In these cases, a well-chosen single image often produces cleaner results than multiple inconsistent ones.

FAQ

1. How many images can I upload for Multi-View?

Multi-View supports up to four views: your uploaded front image plus three complementary views—left side, back, and right side. Use Generate Multi-View to auto-generate these from a single front image.

2. Can I mix a sketch and a photo?

It's best to keep all reference images in the same style and format to avoid conflicting details in the generated model.

3. Will more images always improve quality?

No. Consistent, well-lit images of the same object matter more than the raw number of images.
