How to Avoid Unwanted Elements Without Negative Prompts
The most effective workaround is to describe what you don't want using "no" or "without" phrasing directly in your prompt.
Use "no" or "without" in Your Main Prompt
Instead of a negative prompt field, include exclusions naturally in your description:

Be Specific About What You DO Want
Vague prompts leave room for the model to fill in details you didn't intend. The more specific your positive description, the less room there is for surprises:

A well-structured prompt naturally constrains the output. Aim for this pattern:

Limit to 3–6 Key Details
Too many descriptors can dilute or confuse the model. Focus on your most important 3–6 attributes and leave the rest to the model's defaults.

Iterate: Generate a batch, pick the closest result, then refine your prompt based on what appeared. Small prompt changes can have a big impact.

1. Will negative prompts be added back to Meshy?
There is no current timeline for reintroducing a dedicated negative prompt field. Meshy 5 and 6 use significantly improved models with stronger natural language understanding, which reduces the need for a separate exclusion field. In the meantime, inline "no" / "without" phrasing in your main prompt is the recommended approach.
2. Can I use an older model to get the negative prompt field back?
Meshy 3 and Meshy 3 Turbo do include a negative prompt field. However, these are older models with lower output quality. We strongly recommend staying on Meshy 5 or 6 and using inline exclusions — the output quality difference is significant, and inline exclusions work well once you get the hang of the phrasing.
3. I'm still getting unwanted elements — what else can I try?
A few things to try:
Move your exclusion to the beginning of the prompt — earlier placement often has more influence
Simplify — too many descriptors can cause the model to fill gaps unexpectedly; trim to the 3–6 most important details
Generate multiple variants in one batch and select the closest result to iterate from
Use Smart Healing after generation to fix specific problem areas without regenerating the whole model
4. Does this apply to all Text to 3D modes?
Yes — negative prompts are not available in any Text to 3D mode in Meshy 5 or Meshy 6, including both standard and turbo variants.
