Quick answer: In Meshy, Creative Lab is a set of AI tools for creating custom 3D-printable products — keychains, fridge magnets, collectible figures, and lampshades — from your own photos or text descriptions. You generate a low-resolution concept first (Prototype stage), then produce the final print-ready file (Build stage). Download the result as STL or 3MF for home printing, or order a physical copy shipped to your door.
What is Meshy Creative Lab?
In Meshy, Creative Lab is a collection of AI-powered tools that generate specific 3D-printed objects from photos or text descriptions. Unlike general 3D model generation, each Creative Lab product type produces a result optimized for physical printing — with the geometry, thickness, and structure required for that specific item.
Available product types:
Keychain — a 3D-printable keychain built around your custom design
Fridge Magnet — a colorized depth-relief design with a flat magnetic back
Figure — a chibi-style or vinyl collectible figure generated from a photo
Lamp — a 3D-printable lampshade created from a text prompt or photo
How Creative Lab works
Creative Lab uses a two-stage workflow: Prototype first, then Build. This lets you preview and refine before committing to the full print-ready file.
Stage 1: Prototype
The Prototype stage generates a low-resolution concept model you can review, rotate, and adjust. Use this stage to confirm the design direction before proceeding to Build.
Stage 2: Build
The Build stage produces the final print-ready file (STL or 3MF format) with the detail and geometry needed for physical printing. Credit costs for each stage are shown in the product interface — see meshy.ai/pricing for your plan's credit allocation.
How to create with Creative Lab
Sign in at meshy.ai and open Creative Lab from the main sidebar.
Select a product type: Keychain, Fridge Magnet, Figure, or Lamp.
Upload a photo or describe your design using the text prompt.
Click Generate to run the Prototype stage. Review the 3D concept when it's ready.
If the design looks right, click Build to generate the final print-ready file.
When the Build is complete, click Download to save the STL or 3MF file, or click Order Print to have a physical copy shipped.
Download or order a physical print
After a Build completes, you have two options:
Download — save the STL or 3MF file and print it yourself on any FDM printer or at a print service.
Order Print — Meshy ships a physical printed copy directly to you. Free shipping is available in the US, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, China, and Japan.
Common questions about Creative Lab
Do I need a paid plan to use Creative Lab?
Creative Lab uses Meshy credits for both the Prototype and Build stages. You need enough credits in your account to run each stage. See meshy.ai/pricing for what's included with each plan.
Can I re-run the Prototype before building?
Yes. You can generate multiple Prototypes for the same input to explore different directions before committing to a Build. Each Prototype run uses credits, so review your prompt carefully before generating.
What file formats does Creative Lab output?
The Build stage outputs STL and 3MF files. Both formats are widely supported by 3D printing slicers including Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, and Ultimaker Cura.
Which countries get free shipping for physical orders?
Free shipping is currently available to the United States, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, China, and Japan. Additional countries may be available at standard shipping rates — check the checkout screen for current availability.
