Why Was I Logged Out?

Understanding our multi-device login rules — when you'll be logged out, and when you can stay signed in on multiple devices at once.

Overview

To keep accounts secure and prevent misuse, we've updated the rules for how many devices can be signed in to the same account at the same time which applies to all the plans excepts enterprise plan:

  • Same platform: Only 1 device can be active per platform at any given time. When a 2nd device signs in on the same platform, the existing device on that platform is automatically logged out (the newest login takes priority).

  • Cross-platform: Being signed in on different platforms at the same time is allowed — they won't affect each other.

In short: switching devices isn't restricted, but signing in on two devices on the same platform at the same time will bump the earlier one off.

What counts as a "platform"?

Devices and clients that can sign in to your account fall into 5 platform categories. Devices within the same platform will log each other out; devices across different platforms won't.

Platform

Includes

Desktop Web

Accessing the website via macOS, Windows, or Linux browsers; iPad browser also falls into this category

Mobile Web

Accessing the website via a phone browser

iOS App

Native iOS app

Android App

Native Android phone app

Tablet App

Native Android tablet app (e.g., Samsung, Xiaomi tablets)

💡 Note: An iPad's browser is classified as "Desktop Web," not "Mobile Web" or "Tablet App." This is the detail people most often overlook, so keep it in mind.

FAQ

1. I was using Device A normally and suddenly got logged out — what happened?

The most common reason is that another device signed in to your account on the same platform, triggering the "1 device per platform" rule. The system logs out the earlier session in favor of the newer login.

Things to check:

  • Whether a family member, friend, or someone else is also using your account

  • Whether you have another device (a second computer, a tablet) that was still signed in

  • If you suspect an unauthorized login, we recommend changing your password as soon as possible

2.If I'm signed in on my phone app and my computer's web browser at the same time, will they log each other out?

No. A phone app (iOS App / Android App) and a computer's web browser (Desktop Web) are different platforms. Cross-platform sessions are allowed to run simultaneously and won't affect each other.

3.Can I sign in to the same account on two Android phones at the same time?

Not persistently. Both phones' Android apps count as the same platform (Android App), so the device that logs in later will kick the earlier one off.

4.Will being logged out interrupt whatever I'm doing?

If a device gets logged out due to a same-platform takeover, any in-progress action may be interrupted. Please save your work before switching devices, and avoid alternating logins on multiple devices of the same platform.

5.Do I need to log in again after being logged out? Is my account at risk?

Yes, a device that's been logged out will need to sign in again. This on its own doesn't mean anything is wrong with your account — it just means the same-platform login slot was taken over by a newer login. That said, if you're not the one signing in elsewhere but keep getting logged out, we recommend changing your password and reviewing your account security as soon as possible.

6.What if I genuinely need multiple accounts or multiple simultaneous logins?

We recommend upgrading to Studio and purchasing additional Seats. With Studio, the Studio Owner and Studio Team Members share all assets and credits under the main account, while each sub-account on the team plan can sign in independently and simultaneously, without affecting one another. Check out studio plan here.
