Overview
Meshy offers a discounted plan for students and educators so classrooms can use text-to-3D and image-to-3D generation for coursework, projects, and teaching demos. This guide covers who qualifies, how to verify your status, how to run a classroom workflow, and what to know about student privacy and attribution.
Eligibility and Verification
The education discount is available to currently enrolled students and educators at accredited institutions. Verification is typically done with a valid school email address or proof of enrollment/employment. The discount applies only while you remain a current student or educator — it cannot be retained after graduation, and changing your account email to a personal address afterward will not keep the discount active.
Classroom Workflow
For classroom use, we recommend:
Have each student or team create their own Meshy account rather than sharing one login, since assets and credits cannot be merged or transferred between accounts.
Use Text to 3D for quick concepting and Image to 3D when students already have reference art or photos.
Set a shared credit budget per assignment so students know how many generations they can use.
Student Privacy
Student data and uploads are stored securely and are not shared publicly unless a model is explicitly published to the Community. Non-Enterprise accounts (including student accounts) may have anonymized data used for future model training as outlined in our Terms of Use; this does not include personally identifying information.
Attribution
If a student's project will be submitted, exhibited, or published, check your institution's policy on citing AI-assisted work, and note that generated models may carry usage terms depending on your subscription tier — see the commercial-use FAQ linked below for details.
Getting Started
To apply for the education discount, sign up with your school email and follow the verification steps on the pricing page. Once verified, your account will reflect the discounted rate on your next billing cycle.
FAQ
1. Can I keep the student discount after I graduate?
No. The discount is tied to active student or educator status and cannot be retained or transferred to a personal email after graduation.
2. Can multiple students share one account for a class project?
We recommend individual accounts, since assets and credits cannot be merged between accounts later.
3. Is student work kept private?
Yes, unless a model is explicitly published to the Community section. See the privacy FAQ linked below for details on data handling.
4. Who do I contact if verification fails?
Contact [email protected] with proof of enrollment or employment if automatic verification does not go through.
