Fixing 3D Model Rendering Issues in the Viewer

Learn how to fix 3D model rendering issues in the Meshy viewer. Try updating your browser, enabling hardware acceleration, or updating your GPU drivers.

Overview

If your 3D model looks incorrect, glitchy, or incomplete inside the Meshy viewer — but looks fine after downloading — the issue is almost always with your browser or graphics settings, not the model itself. This guide walks you through the most common fixes.

Quick Check: Is the Model Actually OK?

Before changing any settings, download your model and open it in a local viewer (such as Windows 3D Viewer or any offline 3D tool). If it looks correct there, your model is fine — the steps below will resolve the viewer issue.

Fix 1: Update or Switch Your Browser

The Meshy viewer relies on WebGL, a browser technology for 3D rendering. Outdated browsers can struggle with it.

Update your current browser

Make sure you're running the latest version:

  • Chrome: Menu → Help → About Google Chrome → update if prompted

  • Firefox: Menu → Help → About Firefox → update if prompted

  • Edge: Menu → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge → update if prompted

Try a different browser

If updating doesn't help, switch to a different browser entirely. Chrome tends to have the best WebGL support and is our recommended browser for Meshy.

Fix 2: Enable Hardware Acceleration

Hardware acceleration lets your browser use your GPU to render 3D content. If it's turned off, the viewer may produce incorrect or degraded output.

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome Settings (chrome://settings)

  2. Search for "hardware acceleration"

  3. Toggle Use graphics acceleration when available to ON

  4. Click Relaunch

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox Settings (about:preferences)

  2. Scroll to Performance

  3. Uncheck Use recommended performance settings

  4. Check Use hardware acceleration when available

  5. Restart Firefox

Edge

  1. Open Edge Settings (edge://settings/system)

  2. Toggle Use graphics acceleration when available to ON

  3. Click Restart

Fix 3: Update Your GPU Drivers

Outdated GPU drivers are a common cause of WebGL rendering glitches.

Windows

After installing, restart your computer and reload Meshy.

macOS

GPU drivers on Mac are bundled with macOS system updates. Go to System Settings → General → Software Update and install any available updates.
