Why Does a UPI Payment Show as Successful but My Account Isn't Activated?

Why a UPI payment can show a success screen without activating your Meshy plan — how the bank confirmation and UPI authorization can fail, refund timing, and how to subscribe again.

If your UPI app showed a payment success screen but your Meshy account still shows Free, the payment most likely never completed on our side. Here is what happens with UPI payments and what you can do.

UPI payment is successful but Meshy account is free

A UPI payment completes in three steps:

  1. You confirm the payment in your UPI app (PhonePe, Google Pay, and similar).

  2. Your UPI app shows a success screen.

  3. Your bank's network sends the confirmation to our payment provider.

Step 2 only means your app confirmed the payment. Your plan is activated by step 3, and step 3 can fail: the bank network declines the confirmation without giving a detailed reason, so no UPI transaction ID ever reaches our payment provider. Our records then show the payment as unsuccessful, and your account stays on Free even though your app reported success. This is a known issue with UPI payments — nothing went wrong on your side.

Why dose UPI payment fail

UPI payments must be authorized in your UPI app, and that step has a time limit. Depending on where you started:

  • On desktop: a QR code page opens. Scan it with the UPI app on your phone and confirm the payment there. The QR code expires after 5 minutes.

  • On mobile: you are redirected to your UPI app, where you confirm the payment.

If the QR code expired before you scanned it, if you didn't confirm in the app, or if you canceled after being redirected, the authorization never completes. Your app may still show a success or pending screen, but no payment reaches us, no UPI transaction ID is recorded, and your plan cannot be activated.

A credit or debit card also works if UPI keeps failing.
